Me, looking very serious.

(I’m not usually this serious.)

How it all began….

I was 19. A family friend's film camera was passed on to me. I had no idea what I was doing, but I did it anyway. I ruined many rolls of film before deciding I should probably do some learning.

My mom, who passed away in 2015, was an art teacher and the most creative influence on my life. Without trying she taught me an eye that could organize color and shapes in an instant - making us great table-setters, present-wrappers, and birthday-sign-makers. When I started using a camera, I knew I had found my art.

I went professional in 2000. My first paid gig was a grandmother's surprise 80th birthday party. They fed me and were some of the nicest people I'd ever met. The pictures were grainy and a few were too blurry, but my first clients were happy.

I've come a long way since then. I shoot elopements in Sonoma County and sometimes New York City, my home away from home. I've been documenting couples say "I do" for over a decade and I really don't get sick of it. Really.

I also love hanging out with kids, animals, and pregnant people. I dig special occasions and times you decide it's a special occasion because you're getting your pictures taken. I think it's pretty special, too! Especially when the art we've created together ends up on your wall; a beautiful memory you can visit every day.

I’m a candid and focused photographer. I like to observe you as your natural self and capture the best moments of exactly that. I’ll give you little directions to help create the most flattering shot, but I won’t bring you far out of your own comfort zone. I want you to beam as who you are, with your fiancé, with your children, with yourself. Whatever the occasion, I’m looking for that sparkle everyone has inside.

My goal is to capture honest moments; split-seconds-of-emotions that you yourself may have forgotten happened. I want you to smile when you see my photos of your special day, to laugh, maybe even to cry! Some of the most powerful moments go unnoticed.
