Avonlea is a singer/songwriter who I first saw perform at the ripe old age of 5. (I think. I actually don't remember how old she was, but I have a vivid memory of her as a small child singing onstage with her dad holding the microphone for her!) That was a decade ago. Avonlea is now sixteen and was recently featured on America's Got Talent - wow, right? Not only is she talented, but she's sweet and easy-going, and was an absolute JOY to have in front of my camera! I mean...look at her!!
Before our shoot, Avonlea sent me a series of images she was inspired by for this shoot. They ended up inspiring me too, striking a chord of motivation and passion in me. She sent photos of bejeweled women from the '60s and sunlit forests. I instantly had a vision.
I did some searching for the right props for this shoot. I made the flower crown at a wedding expo months ago and dried it for future use, and it pulled Avonlea's peach dress look together to really make her pop from the nature around her. The pinwheel was a last-minute impulse buy at JoAnn's, where I had measured two 5-yard lengths of peachy tulle for her ethereal field look (see below!). You never know!
Thank you Avonlea & Hollie for gifting me with such a wonderful collaboration and the chance to create what I love most! I enjoyed this shoot so much. Make sure to check out Avonlea's original music & covers by clicking here!
